A new model to support Morocco’s regional development

  • A hybrid solution based on teleworking 4 days out of 5, as well as on-site work
  • First pilot site in Oujda with a potential of up to 800 new jobs created
  • Start of operations in October 2020

Intelcia Group launches a new model of sites combining telework (4 days out of 5) and on-site work. An innovative delivery method that allows the group to establish itself in distant regions which are far from the country's main economic artery. The goal is to contribute to their development. “Our response to the Covid crisis was firstly to secure the jobs of our employees and to ensure business continuity for our clients. Secondly, it is paramount for us to continue to invest in job creation, particularly in regions that need to be revitalized. We are one of the 50 largest Moroccan companies. Our commitment to sustainable economic growth is naturally one of the pillars of our social and societal commitment,” asserts Karim Bernoussi, CEO of Intelcia.

This new site model clearly represents the Group's anchor point for its development in the regions. The successful experience of teleworking, rolled out during the Covid-19 pandemic, is what inspired Intelcia's teams to devise this project based on satellite mini-sites exclusively dedicated to teleworking on a 4/5 basis (80% teleworking and 20% on-site work). This hybrid solution is part of Intelcia's global offer, with a differentiated value proposition for employees. It offers them sustainable jobs in their city with the flexibility that comes with teleworking. “Today we are converting the telework “experience” by adopting this hybrid model in the new sites in the regions. It allows us to offer jobs to people who do not wish to or are unable to commute 5 days a week to work, or who live in remote areas. However, for me, on-site work is key in this system, because it allows us to maintain a social link with the company. The company is not only a workplace. It is also a place for socializing, exchanging ideas, training...” says Karim Bernoussi.

In practical terms, the call center staff will be required to come to work on-site every week and on a rotating basis. These satellite mini-sites, averaging about 100 positions, will have access to all the necessary management, on-site training and the Group's entire HR and social policy. It goes without saying that the call center staff will benefit from specific terms and conditions, with Intelcia covering the cost of their work tools, as well as allowances specific to telework. As a result of this differentiated approach, the Group will not only introduce a new mindset in the regions, but above all new jobs which are specific to the sector.

This innovative system will also help the Group to expand more rapidly in the regions, due to the agility and flexibility which are intrinsic to the model. To carry out this pilot project, Intelcia initially set its sights on the Oriental region, and more specifically the city of Oujda, for its attractive employment pool, as well as quality infrastructures. “Intelcia's investment in Oujda is perfectly in line with the spirit of the action program for the economic take-off of the region and will contribute to place the Oriental region among the regions of the Kingdom that create wealth and jobs,” said Mouad El Jamai, Wali of the Oriental region, Governor of the Prefecture of Oujda-Angad.

In fact, on the occasion of SICCAM 2020 - the International Exhibition of Contact and Call Centers in Morocco - which was held on 10 and 11 July in Oujda, an investment agreement was signed with the Wilaya, the Regional Council of the Oriental Region and other institutional stakeholders. The aim is to support Intelcia's development in the region, with a potential of 400 new jobs in the medium term, and a potential of 800 jobs in the long term.

Other cities are expected to join the scheme in the long term in order to boost the regional job market. Intelcia Group currently employs more than 8,500 people in Morocco.
